Successful admission interview at the Doctoral School MSOH (MedUni Graz)
We are pleased to announce that Ferdinand Prüfer has successfully completed the admission interview for the Doctoral School – Musculoskeletal System and Oral Health (MSOH) at the Medical University of Graz. The working title of his dissertation project is: “Predicting Rehabilitation Outcomes and Identifying Minimal Clinically Important Differences – Based On Normative Reference Data For Austria From Retrospective And Prospective Perspectives.”
What is the dissertation about?
The aim of the thesis is to predict rehabilitation outcomes more reliably and to better determine when a change is truly relevant and noticeable for patients. To this end, Austrian reference data from routine care is combined with new surveys. This will result in practical guidelines and decision-making aids that will help physicians, therapists, and patients to assess the course of treatment more realistically and plan treatments in a more targeted manner.
The project is in line with the LBI-RR’s research plan: it expands on ongoing work, links existing data sources, and addresses current issues relating to outcome research and reference values—with direct added value for future projects at the institute.
Special thanks go to the supervisory team: Prof. Dr. Alexander Avian, Dr. Bibiane Steinecker-Frohnwieser (main supervisor), and DDr. Vincent Grote for their methodological, statistical, and conceptual support. We would also like to thank Dr. Birgit Lohberger, head of the Doctoral School, for the constructive exchange during the admission interview.
