Interreg cross-border capacity-building workshop
We were glad to participate in a capacity-building workshop and visit the Centre of Active Ageing in Bratislava, at the invitation of the Slovak Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation and the Interreg SK-AT programme. We had interesting talks with a Ukrainian delegation, the managing authority and project partners about our experiences in cross-border projects.
In a heartwarming display of cross-border cooperation, a recent delegation visit between Slovakia and Austria highlighted the power of science and community engagement in bridging nations. The visit, marked by professional exchanges and personal connections, underscored how collaborative research can directly benefit society, especially its most vibrant members, like the seniors at a local gym in Bratislava (Centre of Active Ageing).
Science Meets Society
One of the most memorable moments of the delegation’s trip was a visit to a seniors’ gym, where lively conversations and shared laughter on stationary bicycles brought the human impact of scientific collaboration to life. “These moments remind us of the real human value behind our joint efforts,” reflected a delegation member. The visit symbolized the mission of bringing research out of labs and into everyday life, making science accessible and meaningful for all.
Strengthening Ties Through Research
The delegation also focused on discussing ongoing projects like Cross-Prehab that exemplify the strong partnership between Slovakia and Austria. Leaders emphasized how this cooperation serves as a model for other regions, proving that shared goals can lead to impactful results. “It’s inspiring to see how our joint initiatives continue to make a difference,” said the delegation lead, highlighting the importance of professionalism and mutual commitment in driving progress.
A Future of Shared Success
As the visit concluded, gratitude was extended for the warmth and hospitality shown by all involved. The delegation expressed enthusiasm for the future, stating, “I look forward to continuing our successful cooperation.” This sentiment reflects a broader vision: one where science not only advances knowledge but also strengthens communities and fosters connections across borders.
The event serves as a reminder that when nations work together, the benefits extend far beyond research – touching lives, building relationships, and creating a brighter future for everyone.
